Service Overview
Invasive Honeysuckle Removal
Amur and Morrow's bush honeysuckle have taken over woodlots, fence rows, and back yards across Preble, Montgomery, and Wayne County. It shades out native plants, ruins habitat, and turns the back of a property into a wall of brush you can't walk through. We cut it, grind the stumps, and treat or haul the debris so it can't resprout from cuttings.
Why honeysuckle is such a problem
Bush honeysuckle leafs out earlier and holds leaves later than native species, so it shades out the entire understory of your woods. It re-sprouts aggressively from cut stumps, and the berries spread it everywhere birds land. Just cutting it with a chainsaw makes it worse the next season, you have to address the root.
How we remove it for good
On smaller bushes we pull them out roots and all with the skid-steer. On larger established stands we cut them low, grind or treat the stumps so they can't resprout, and haul the brush off-site. We can clear a backyard thicket, a woodlot edge, or the entire understory of a small woods, depending on what you need.
What's left behind
A walkable, mowable, plantable space. Many homeowners reseed with native grasses or just let the native understory recover on its own once the honeysuckle isn't smothering it. The improvement in the first growing season after removal is dramatic.
Pricing
Quoted by the job after we see the property, honeysuckle density varies wildly from one yard to the next. Small backyard patches typically start around $300; full woodlot understory work is quoted after a walk-through. Always a free, no-pressure flat-rate quote.
