Service Overview
Stump Grinding & Removal
Worley's Stump Grinding has been the go-to stump crew in Southwestern Ohio and East Central Indiana for 31 years. Most homeowners want a clean grind that lets them mow, sod, or plant over the spot, but when the project calls for it, we also do full stump and root-ball removal so you can pour concrete, set a footing, or replant in the exact same place.
Stump grinding: fast and clean
Our professional-grade grinder breaks the stump down into small wood chips. We grind 4–8 inches below the soil surface (deeper on request) so the stump never resprouts and you can mow, plant grass, lay sod, or landscape directly over the spot. When we're done you have a mound of clean mulch that we backfill, leave for your beds, or haul away. Your call.
Complete stump removal. When grinding isn't enough
Pouring a patio, slab, or driveway over the area. Installing a pool, deck footing, or building foundation. Replanting a tree in the exact same spot. Eliminating a root system that's threatening a sidewalk or sewer line. For those jobs we excavate the entire stump and major root ball, haul it off, and backfill the hole so you have a level, ready-to-build surface.
Where we can work
Backyards, front yards, fence lines, septic-field edges, alongside driveways, behind sheds, tight side-yards. Our equipment is sized for residential properties, narrow gates aren't a problem. We work safely around irrigation heads, gas markers, and decorative landscaping.
How long it takes
Most residential stumps grind out in 15–45 minutes once we're set up; a 1–4 stump job usually wraps in under two hours. We've also cleared larger properties with 100 or more stumps by scaling the crew and equipment to the job. Complete extractions take longer, typically a half day per large stump because of the excavation, hauling, and backfill involved.
Pricing
Most grinds run between $75 and $250 depending on diameter, depth requested, and access. Complete removal generally runs 2–4x the cost of grinding the same stump because of the equipment, time, and disposal involved. Either way you get a free, no-pressure flat-rate quote before any work begins. No hourly meter, no hidden disposal fees.
